Sludge has a tendency to settle in a tank if there is insufficient agitation. Our MaxMix system works for both large digesters and smaller tanks. Here is an example of a system for mixing sludge before it is pumped to the dewatering system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are many advantages to agitation. By pumping from the bottom in the centre of the tank and then pumping the sludge back into a jet nozzle, a more homogeneous sludge is achieved. Sedimentation on the bottom of the tank is avoided. This allows the whole volume of the tank to be actively used in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MaxMix systems use Vaughan cutting pumps. These pumps are able to pump the sludge even if there are rags, twigs or other solid particles. This is because it is a cutting pump with six different blade systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The stirrer is run intermittently, which allows energy consumption to be optimised. The agitation should be run so that the sludge is always in motion. This means that the pump is stationary part of the time and active part of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Servicing the system is easy. There are no moving parts inside the tank - so no servicing is needed inside the tank. The Vaughan pump is adjustable without the need to disassemble it. This makes it easy to adjust the clearance between the cutting disc and the impeller when needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
